Players will be able to upload custom images to use as artwork/paintings within their player housing.[2][3]
User-created content
Import of user-created image content (UCC) is being considered.[2][4] This was previously not under consideration.[5]
- An active GM staff will be monitoring user-created content. Users who upload inappropriate content will place their accounts in jeopardy.[6]
- I know previously we had spoken about not allowing custom user images in the game, however I think we're leaning more now in the direction of allowing for custom user images. Absolutely well what it will be is the fact that we're a subscription game and if you want to jeopardize your account by doing the wrong thing with regards to custom users [images] then by all means you may do so and we'll have stringent practices in place to prevent that from actually being an issue.[4] – Steven Sharif
- With regards to this UCC question, I think when you have an active an active GM team that you are you have directed to care take the product you're going to mitigate a lot of that functionality you don't want to see out of this custom image system. People who look to let's say meme the system are going to be met with the type of enforcement that they don't want to have on their account; and being a subscription-based product and being a risk versus reward and maybe a more old-school approach to character development and progression I think they're gonna take a significant risk in doing things that we don't want them to do, which will result in the jeopardy of their account. So I think that is not going to deter a hundred percent of things- I don't think you ever can deter a hundred percent of things unless we go away from custom images- but I think that we can achieve some parity of essentially enforcement versus infraction ratio that's going to be liveable for everybody.[6] – Steven Sharif
Housing decorations
Players may decorate their player housing and other types of buildings.[9]
- Houses will be empty when purchased.[10]
- Players may be able to upgrade to pre-furnished sets when they purchase their home.[11]
- Pre-furnished sets will be almost entirely visual and aesthetic. Only items crafted by the Carpentry profession will have in-game functionality.[11]
- Players may place furniture, artwork/paintings and other decor items in their player housing.[12][13][14][15][3]
- Items may only be placed in locations that are suitable for that item. For example: Statues, may only be placed in exterior locations (of Freeholds and Static housing).[11]
- Each size, grade, and type of player-owned housing determines the number and type of items that can be placed in it.[12][16][17] For example: You can place only the best furniture in mansion grade in-node housing.[12]
- Building skins may change the shape of a homestead but the space available for furnishings should remain consistent.[16]
- When it comes to if you put a cosmetic house on top of your normal house, those cosmetics should be similar in size. The shape will change, so maybe the room layout will be different, but it'll still be like a one-story building.[16] – Margaret Krohn
- Characters will be able to interact with furniture items such as sit in chairs and lay in beds.[18]
- Players will not be able to alter structural aspects such as windows and walls.[11]
- There may be decor items that are representative of unique weapons that are available in the game.[19]
Quality furniture can be crafted in-game based on the skill of the craftsperson and availability of recipes, components and workbenches suitable to craft them.[12][20]
- Furnishing items with in-game functionality will be restricted entirely to those created by the Carpentry profession.[11]
- Your ability to craft more luxurious furniture comes with how much of a master craftsman you've become in the furnishing profession... This isn't like , I want my house to look good, I got to fork over 50 bucks in cosmetics... Players can craft in-game based on their dedication and focus in that aspect the artisan tree.[20] – Steven Sharif
- Prized items such as achievements and trophies may be displayed.[21]
Furniture
Furniture may be cosmetic only, or may contain bonuses relating to the level of the furniture maker (carpenter).[23][24][25][26]
- Crafted furniture may contain bonuses based on the quality and grade of the furniture.[24][27]
- Furnishing items with in-game functionality will be restricted entirely to those created by the carpentry profession.[11]
- Furniture does not have any limited use aspects and can be set up again at a new location if the player housing is ever destroyed.[28]
- Components of unique furniture recipes will be drops. The rarity of these items will scale based on the power it confers to the specific type of furniture it constructs.[29]
- Players can manipulate and preview the orientation of furniture and other placeable items.[30][31]
- Furniture isn't just necessarily there for looks but also may contain certain bonuses on some rotational period.[26] – Steven Sharif
Rugs
Rugs are a housing decoration in Ashes of Creation.[32]
