Markets
A market is a type of unique node building in Ashes of Creation that unlocks at Village (stage 3) of an Economic node.[2] Markets serve as a center for the transaction of goods and services within the area. Players can use the Market to access features including (but not limited to) some of the following:[3]
- Auction house where raw resources and crafting materials may be posted.[3]
- Trade hauling stables for Tier 1 mule training.[3]
- Player shop areas for personal shop deployment and rental stalls.[3]
- Player shop certificates purchased from Metropolis (stage 6) economic nodes allow placement anywhere in the world, including Freeholds and near POIs, such as Dungeons.[4][5][6]
- Private property sale certificates.[3]
- Hunter's Post (higher redemption for Tier 1 creature bounties).[3]
- Black markets are upgrade paths for markets where stolen glint can be redeemed.[7]
Markets are distinct from Marketplaces, which are constructible node buildings that are available for placement by mayors of any Town (stage 4) node or higher.[8]
Black markets
Marketplaces don't normally come with a Black market and it's a part of the expansion tree. So it's a choice you can make on your marketplace to be a where bandits take their stuff.[9] – John Collins
Black markets are available through upgrades/expansions to marketplace service buildings.[9][7]
- Players are able to redeem stolen glint and stolen commodities at black markets.[10][7]
Auction houses

If a Node is the Vassal Node of an Economic Node, an Auctioneer NPC appears in that Vassal Node. The Auctioneer allows players to list non-resource/processed materials in the Parent Node’s Auction House, but players cannot bid on items from this Auctioneer. These resources and processed materials must be stored within an Economic Node in order to be listed in that Node’s Auction House. In order to bid, they must still travel to the Auction House in the Parent Node.[3]
Auction houses are node buildings in Economic nodes.[4][12]
- Auction houses allow items and resources to be listed for sale at a specific node location.[13] – Steven Sharif
- A listing fee will be charged to list items in the auction house.[12]
- Vassal nodes of the auction house node will be able to view items that are listed on that auction house, regardless of node type of the vassal node.[12]
- On a regular cadence, a number of a node's freehold parcels become available to be bid for at auction.[15]
- Integrated auction houses allow players to purchase items directly from remote auction houses.[5]
- Purchases of materials and gatherables will be automatically deposited within the listing node's local warehouse. Players will need to travel to that warehouse to retrieve them. Players wishing to move these items elsewhere will need to utilize the caravan system or other type of transportation.[16][12]
- Purchases of anything other than materials and gatherables will be mailed to the purchaser.[16]
- There may be a taxation difference between auction houses versus other player businesses.[12]
- Items listed in auction houses are also visible in community boards (bulletin boards).[5]
- Data relating to auction houses, such as price history, volumes, average prices, may be available to players via a mayor-constructed service building in their node.[17]
- That's probably how it's going to be surfaced... Your your mayor is going to have to build it for you.[17] – Jeffrey Bard
Player stalls

One of the key components of a functional economy is the ability to trade and not having that predicated just on chat. So, player stalls we prioritized to make it in by the 20th. These will be in a functional state to begin with. There will be an NPC within the market area that you will be able to list your goods at and other players will be able to interact with that NPC take a look at the different player shops that are listed and make purchases at those locations. So, this is something I think is very necessary. It's not quite an auction house and the reason it's not an auction house is because you basically have a little bit of a storefront: You go through this list of other players' stores and you can click into that store and you can see a number of different items that they have and you can make transactional purchases on a buy order basis for what they've listed.[18] – Steven Sharif
Player stalls (also called Kiosks and rental stalls) are rentable locations near the unique building in an Economic node[12], in Marketplaces (the constructible building available for placement by mayors of any Town (stage 4) node or higher), or as business buildings on freehold plots.[4][20][8]
- All nodes do have the ability to spawn player stalls. If you're not an economic node and you don't have a market- that's essentially your unique building- then you can construct essentially what is I guess would be called a... marketplace; and that marketplace will then come with certain services and it will come with a certain number of stalls. The economic node as I recall has the ability to construct an auction house and the auction house serves through the economic means the ability to list and sell items and that comes with additional stalls as well for the players.[8] – Steven Sharif
- Players list items for sale at a NPC within the node's market area. Other players can interact with this NPC browse and purchase from player stalls in that node.[21][18][22][23] Player stalls do not require the attendance of the character or for that character to be online.[24]
- Intended to be part of the stall system where your shop can be set up for purchase by quantity, by amount, and value; but also to sell stacks and individual purchases as well.[21] – Steven Sharif
- Player stalls are rentable by node citizens.[24]
- The number of player stalls available are dependent on service building upgrades chosen within the node.[4]
- Player stalls may be utilized for a period of time based on the price paid to rent the stall.[23]
- Player stalls may still operate during node siege declaration. This is subject to testing.[25]
- Player stalls are scheduled for release in Alpha-2 phase-2.[18][19]
- Renting a player stall enables players to provide repair and enchanting services, even when they are not online.[23]
- Players are not able to be attacked or robbed while occupying their player stall inside the limits of a node.[28]
- Bulletin boards that list the items available in player stalls can be accessed from anywhere in the region.[26]
- These give the location of the stall so players can travel there and purchase the items.[26]
- Stall sales are also listed in auction houses.[29]
- This may no longer be accurate.[5]
